About GESTURES

Gestures is a book containing relatively detailed descriptions of the way people choose to wear their clothes. I wrote the foreword and text interlude, and edited the book.
We launched the book at Head Hi architectural book store in New York City, with GESTURES: PERFORMED, a live reading, movement and music performance which I co-choreographed, co-creative directed and co-produced. (Event and rehearsal photography by Russel Low.) Since publication, the book has been acquired by myriad institutional and academic libraries.
Concept, documentation and design of Gestures is by SUBJECT BUREAUX, who invited me into the project, and which is a global design practice exploring the relationships between people, places and products.
Other projects with Subject Bureaux
“In and From and Through”, an installation at 200 5th Avenue, was a 2023 commission granted to Subject Bureaux by Standard Arts. Operating as an editing partner for the creative team, I produced the art text that was installed onsite as a hybrid artist statement, historical context, and wayfinding tool.
