A Comms Strategy Rooted in Editorial Explorations

About Field Notes & Features

Le Whit is a New York- and San Francisco-based design firm.

Platform Building & Thought-Leadership

I co-developed and launched “Field Notes: observations and explorations of inequity in the built environment, and visions for its future”, an owned editorial program that defined Le Whit’s perspective and gave the young firm’s principals a consistent and authoritative voice. The project resulted in high-value commissions in ARCHITECT Magazine and PIN-UP, an experience partnership with NeueHouse, and a replicable editorial and research framework for the principals to continuously engage.

I led the development of ideas, built out writing processes and co-authored + edited a series of essays under the Field Notes banner. We not only created a living web archive-cum-thought-leadership portfolio, but also drove outreach and partnerships with media to amplify Field Notes beyond owned channels, positioning Le Whit’s principals as contributors rather than subjects.

Taking Field Notes “off the page”, I secured a partnership with members club NeueHouse and produced a live event, carrying the content marketing into higher-visibility arenas and involving other leaders’ voices: Michael Chen of MKCA, NOAH Co-founder Estelle Bailey-Babenzien, and photographer Angela Hau.

Media Relations

I led the firm’s inaugural ongoing media relations strategy to build a sustained presence for Le Whit’s work and principals’ voices across both design-trade media and mass-market publications (Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Vogue Living, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Magazine, etc.)

Across 5 years, our campaigns resulted in 40+ press hits, averaging 8 significant placements per year for a cadence that kept the firm visible and growing in profile through both evergreen and timely pegs. Featured photography is by Nicole Franzen, as featured in ELLE Decor.
